The Lobster

Set in a dystopian future, The Lobster stars Colin Farrell as David, who is a single man, and by law, is taken to a hotel were he must find a lover in forty-five days, or else he will be turned into an animal. Things start to look bleak for David, and he manages to escape from the hotel and into the woods, where he meets a woman (Rachel Weisz) who might be his match. With a unique premise, and a lead actor who is very capable of comedy (go watch In Bruges), keep The Lobster on your radar.

The Lobster comes to theaters in limited-release on September 27th.

Macbeth

“Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, / Creeps in this petty pace from day to day, / To the last syllable of recorded time; / And all our yesterdays have lighted fools / The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!”

Macbeth (Act 5, Scene 5, lines 19-23)

Ok, sorry about that, but Macbeth rules. It’s a super-dark and gruesome Shakespeare play about a tormented warrior who commits terrible crimes to become king. This new film adaptation of the play stars Michael Fassbender in the titular role, as well as Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, and it looks like they knock it out of the park. Yes, Shakespeare can be a bit much at times, but trust me when I say Macbeth is worth your time.

Macbeth hits theaters on December 4th.

Knock Knock

In the latest film from Eli Roth (Hostel), Keanu Reeves plays a happily married man who stays home from a family vacation to get some work done. However, two attractive young women (Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas) knock on his door asking to use his phone. Keanu lets the girls in, but eventually they force themselves onto him, and he gives into temptation. The next day, the girls put Keanu through hell as they vandalize and assault the man as punishment for cheating on his wife. Definitely not as gory or gruesome as his other horror flicks, Roth’s latest film looks more erotic than scary. Plus, Keanu appears to be leaping out of his action-dude comfort zone for the film too. After John Wick, I’m game for anything with Reeves in it.
