Blizzard’s original plan for the Diablo 2 remake was for it’s Blizzard Team 1 to head the project. However, following the rather negative feedback regarding Warcraft III: Reforged which is currently sitting at a 59 on Metacritic, it appears the studio doesn’t want to make another mistake.

Originally, Vicarious Visionis was hired by Blizzard following it’s decision to remove/disband Blizzard Team 1 to work on the game. However, as reported by Bloomberg, it now appears Vicarious Visions has merged with Blizzard yesterday and is now fully in charge of the project with Blizzard overseeing it.

Vicarious Visions made a name for itself following the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro skater 1+2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy which appeased fans and critics alike.
