The Second Season of ‘Daredevil’ May Feature Elektra

Leaked audition videos involving multiple actresses point towards a high likelihood of seeing Elektra in Daredevil‘s second season.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he first season of Netflix’s Daredevil was incredibly well received by both critics and fans alike. The show has a solid cast, in-depth character development and a great story line. That being said, the question that has been on everyone’s mind is, where will the second season of Daredevil take us next? According to the internet, the second season of Daredevil will introduce us to the Man Without Fear’s mysterious, crime-fighting girlfriend, Elektra.

It doesn’t come as that much of a surprise that the leaked audition videos were quickly removed from the internet. In the time that the videos were available on the internet for all to see, several different possible scenes from the show were played out. After all, the suspense for Netflix’s next season would lose it’s luster if word got out that Elektra had been confirmed or a specific actress had landed the part. That being said, it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at two of the leaked audition videos.

The first audition video involves a scene where a possible Elektra actress and a criminal/thug were engaging in a heated conversation. The conversation ended with Elektra convincing the thug to abandon his criminal activities that had him “hurting innocent people because you’re too lazy to get rich the hard way”. Elektra also mentions that she has a special partner that isn’t particularly aware of her nighttime activities. This statement isn’t too far from the truth and it lines up with her character in the comics. Elektra tends to divide her time between spending some one-on-one time with Daredevil and her own vigilante activities.

The other popular scene that was leaked on the internet takes place between Matt and Elektra. This scene is very interesting because it takes place when the two pre-vigilantes first met one another during college. In the scene, Elektra puts together Matt’s entire persona in a Sherlock-Holmes kind of way and she does this just by noticing the wingtip shoes that he is wearing. Elektra calls him, “pretty, but dumb” an ironic statement to be sure. But after this conversation takes place, they end up spending time with each other after Matt correctly deduces that she is bored with college parties. What makes this scene very interesting is that back in season 1 of Daredevil, Foggy mentions Elektra as Matt’s college girlfriend. Maybe the writers plan on incorporating flash backs to introduce Elektra?

While Marvel or Netflix has yet to make an official statement that proves that Elektra will be in the second season, they do seem to be taking the right steps to find the perfect actress to fit the role. In the comics Elektra is a kunoichi, a female ninja assassin, of Greek descent. Keeping this in mind, it would seem that the two actresses spotted in the leaked audition videos could fit the role fairly well. Here are the two actresses:

The photo above is an actress by the name of Louisa Mignone. Louisa is an Australian actress who starred in films like ‘Wish You Were Here” and “Infini”. The photo below is another actress who auditioned for the role of Elektra. She goes by the name Shiva Kalaiselvan. Shiva is an actress who, while no having no experience in movies or tv shows, has been involved with numerous theater projects in Malaysia, London and New York City.

Whether or not either of these actresses will actually land the role of Elektra remains to be seen. For all we know, Elektra could be someone entirely different. However, it is great to see Marvel and Netflix are seeking out actresses who fit the role of a character who comes from a Greek background. What do you think? Would you prefer Louisa or Shiva to be the next Elektra, or someone else entirely? Let us know in the comments below!

Daredevil‘s second season is schedule to beginning filming some time later this year. The show’s second season will premier early in 2016.
