‘The Flash’ Solo Film may partner Barry Allen with Cyborg

Cyborg may be getting up to speed in The Flash stand-alone film.

[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith Justice League: Part One getting well under way in its pre-production stages, the DC cinematic universe has truly begun its journey on the road to expansion.

The ground work has already been laid out in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which saw cameos (albeit very briefly) from some of the Justice League members, including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

It’s to be expected that The Flash is sure to pal it up with Cyborg in the upcoming Justice League: Part One, but BvS producer Deborah Synder has hinted – in an interview with Forbes – that Cyborg may also have a role to play in the upcoming Flash stand-alone film, set to hit theatres in 2018.

Synder discussed the tonal differences between the upcoming DC films in comparison to BvS, and mentioned that Barry Allen and Victor Stone’s relationship is sure to lighten the mood in The Flash movie:

As you can imagine, when we get to the Flash movie, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher — who plays Cyborg — are kind of our youngest characters, and they have a really nice comradery with each other. Ezra is super funny, so the tone of that film will be very different than the rest of them.

It certainly sounds like Synder is referring to The Flash stand-alone film, rather than the interactions we can expect to see in Justice League: Part One. It wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if we do see some other DC characters pop up in the series of stand-alone films heading our way in future. DC is certainly trying to tie the cinematic universe together in one big knot, after all.

After the darker and more serious tones of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, it’ll be nice to get to some of the DC films due out that will add some much needed lightness. Barry Allen is just the ticket to offer up some humour to the franchise, and his relationship with Cyborg is sure to add a fun dynamic to the film.

Suicide Squad, which is the next film in the franchise to hit theatres, has even gotten some post-production treatment to add an extra helping of humour to the DC cinematic universe – which is no doubt all in a bid to try to move away from the sterner shadow cast by BvS.

It’ll be interesting to see if Cyborg pops up in the Scarlet Speedster’s solo debut, as well as how the DC cinematic universe will shape up as a whole in future.

Justice League: Part One is due out 17 November, 2017, and The Flash stand-alone film is slated to hit theatres 16 March, 2018.
