Could Daisy Ridley be the next Lara Croft?
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]ccording to film news site Deadline, Star Wars star Daisy Ridley is one of top contenders among a number of other actresses being considered for the coveted Lara Croft role in the planned Tomb Raider reboot.
The reboot, which is being produced jointly by MGM and Warner Bros., will kick-start a fresh take on the bad-ass English archaeologist, who’s currently conquering the small screens in the hugely successful revamped game for consoles, Rise of the Tomb Raider.
At this stage, there have only been rumours that talks between the studio and Ridley have taken place for Lara’s role, but it would certainly only add to an already flourishing career for the 23 year-old rising star.
And Ridley is a self proclaimed ‘athletic’ type, who could surely take on the adventurously strong Lara role with gusto.
Whether or not Ridely wants another big franchise under her belt after being involved in the colossally successful Star Wars: Force Awakens, and the films to follow, remains to be seen.
The reboot is rumoured to be a slightly darker take on the tomb raider from the previous Angelina Jolie adaptations.
Nothing much else has been revealed about the reboot project in terms of who else might be involved – apart from whispers that TRON: Legacy and Oblivion director, Joseph Kosinski, may join the project – but it is very early days yet.
Could Ridley fill Lara’s shoes? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
All we know is that it’s estimated to be released sometime in 2017.
