Sam Raimi, who directed Spider-Man 3 in 2007, believes Marvel is on the right track with their reboot.

[toggler title=”TL;DR” ]Sam Raimi, who directed Spider-Man 3 back in 2007 is calling the new and rebooted Spider-Man refreshing. He said, “I saw [both Marc Webb movies], they’re great. And I’m really glad that Marvel’s taking it to high school. I think that’s gonna be refreshing, and just like my favorite of the Spider-Man comic-books. And I have a lot of faith that they really know their stuff… The difficulty of going through high school is so unique to a superhero. It’s unique and that’s what Spider-Man’s all about, so that they’re gonna explore that head on is very exciting.”[/toggler]

[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]arvel has had a lot of luck with their previous movies. Even their past Spider-Man films, which is going to be rebooted for the second time come next year, did fairly well in the box office. That being said, it must be weird for Sam Raimi to see Spider-Man being rebooted again after his film didn’t do so well and Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man failed to appeal to critics and fans alike after the second movie.

It’s unique and that’s what Spider-Man’s all about, so that they’re gonna explore that head on is very exciting.”

With the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, teasing fans over Twitter that Spider-Man will be wittier than those before him, you can be sure that the film will hopefully be better than the ones that came before him. Especially since Marvel and Sony are working on the movie together so that the iconic web-slinger is actually a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man will sling into theaters July 28th, 2017, and will also make a brief appearance in Captain America: Civil War on May 6th, 2016.
