Phase 3 Will End the Current State of the MCU

Nearly two dozen films over the course of a decade, the MCU is ready to make some major changes closing out Phase 3.

With 22 movies in 10 years under its belt, the MCU is ready for some major changes. As to what those are, and what the future has in store for the MCU after Phase 3, Kevin Fiege had this to say during an interview with Uproxx:

“And where we go beyond that? Of course we will go places beyond that. And, of course, we have ideas of where we go beyond that. But, really, it is all good stories. And as the series finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation said, ‘All good things must come to an end.’ And part of what makes them special, there is a finite quality to the best of fictional stories through history. And we wanted to do that at the end of our first three phases and 22 movies. How we start anew and wherever we go beyond that is a story for another time. This is really about 10 years on, bringing something to a head in a satisfying and unexpected way.”

May 4th kicks off the first of two films featuring the Avengers return to the big screen in their biggest challenges yet. With Thanos in possession of the Infinity Gauntlet, and the fate of the Infinity Stones literally in the mad Titan’s hands, the future seems bleak to be certain. There are a couple of important films that are set to release before the first Infinity War film, with several more confirmed to follow, including a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel that is supposed to pick up very shortly after the conclusion of Infinity War part II.
