It’s time to go back to where it all began.
[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]ack in 1996, Nintendo released Pokémon Red and Blue (also known as Green version) in Japan, and once it landed overseas a few years later, a worldwide obsession gripped every child lucky enough to have a GameBoy in their possession.
Then Yellow came along, enchanting us all with everyone’s favourite little yellow mouse, Pikachu, who was the starting Pokémon instead of Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur.
The icing on the cake was giving us the ability to visibly see our little Pokémon sprite following us along at our heels, as we journeyed to become the ultimate Pokémon trainer.
It was the best of times.
Happily, news emerged a little while ago that the good folks at Nintendo were re-releasing these gems on the 3DS to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the franchise, alongside specially themed 2DS’s.
And now they’ve released a trailer. Watch below and get ready to drown in the nostalgia of it all:
We couldn’t be more delighted to re-live the experience once more on our updated 3DS consoles.
The music, the graphics, everything is just as it was in the original, with the re-release promising to avoid altering a thing. The only exception is that we can now trade and battle Pokémon wirelessly; making it more in-keeping with the times, of course.
Mew is also an additional feature of each game, and will be included in each version.
You can get your hands on the rerelease of the games 27 February, 2016 via the eShop.
