[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]orena Baccarin has been cast as the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in Fox’s upcoming Deadpool film, according to THR. Baccarin was most recently seen as Dr. Leslie Thompkins in the television series Gotham. Other credits include Homeland, V, and Serenity.

The announcement reveals that Baccarin will play Deadpool’s love interest, and will try to deal with “falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.”

When thinking of the Deadpool film, the inclusion of the phrase “love interest” might make you cringe, but it should be noted that Wade Wilson has racked up a whole lot of exes and scorned lovers over his 25 years of existence. While no other information was revealed in regards to which love interest Baccarin will play, some possibilities include X-Force member Siryn, crazed assassin Typhoid Mary, or Copycat–a shape-shifting mercenary who was reportedly the female lead in a years-old leaked script). There also remains the possibility that Baccarin will play an entirely new character.

Which of Deadpool’s former squeezes do you think Baccarin should play? Let us know in the comments below!

Deadpool opens on February 12, 2016.
