Microsoft Displays Halo Game Through the HoloLens

In a recent event, Microsoft displayed tidbits of Halo game play through the 3-Dimensional hologram software of the Microsoft HoloLens.

Microsoft is said to be releasing Windows 10 very soon this summer for the PC. Along with the Windows 10 interface, Windows has planned to release Windows Holographic as well. Windows Holographic is being called a “mixed reality” platform that allows for the computer applications to be presented in the form of holograms. The holograms will be able to be used when users wear the smart glasses known as the HoloLens.

The HoloLens will allow users to interact with the Windows 10 interface using their eyes, voice, and hand gestures. The HoloLens headset will be a cordless set of smart glasses that contain a three-dimensional optical head mounted display for use with the applications in Windows 10. It has apparently been in the works for a while now as a Windows 10 related project, but recently it was revealed that the HoloLens was being used to play Halo on the Xbox.

In a recent test, a reporter from GameSpot was able to utilize the HoloLens to take a look at the Halo gameplay. From what it seemed, the user felt like he was a part of the game and the graphics were said to be incomparable to the normal gameplay experience.

Utilizing a 3-Dimensional HoloLens would definitely bring a whole new perspective to playing first-person shooters like Halo. I can imagine that multiplayer mode would feel a lot like a holographic version of the Hunger Games or similar to the movie Avatar. Microsoft has said the HoloLens is supposed to be released along with Windows 10 in the summer of 2015.
