A source has leaked a possible title, and “The New Avenger” might have a bigger role than anticipated in the wars to come.

[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith the addition to a new Avenger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man, will be joining forces with Iron Man, Captain America, and the rest to fight for earth’s safety in a number of upcoming titles.

The web-head will also be getting a new solo movie coming out in summer 2017. What title will this new Spider-Man movie have? Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and the two Amazing Spider-Man movie titles have been used already. Rumors of Sony and Marvel Studios coming to an agreement on a name have surfaced and a title might have been found.

The title for the upcoming new Spider-Man movie has been rumored to be called Spider-Man: The New Avenger. Umberto Gonzalez, who is an online movie reporter and rumor source, has said to have confirmed information about the two studios upcoming project.

It wouldn’t be the first time Marvel has used the Avengers name in a title. Captain American: The First Avenger worked out just fine for them and if they do ultimately end up using the name if would fit right in.

All rumors at this point, but if it ends up being true it would fit right in with other speculations that are floating around.

One interesting, and probable rumor (according to the Ultimate Spider-Man comics) is that Spider-Man: The New Avenger will co-star Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man (assuming he sticks around after his initial Marvel contract expires) and will have Tony Stark being a kind of mentor to the web-slinger. Stark will be guiding Spidey and testing him to see if he has what it takes to become an Avenger and one of earth’s mightiest heroes.

Spider-Man will make his cinematic debut in Captain America: Civil War and will be directed by the Russo brothers and will hit theaters in 2016. No actor has been selected for the role of Spider-Man yet, but there are some names out there; Asa Butterfield, Nat Wolff, Tom Holland, Liam James, and Timothee Chalamet.

There is also a report that Drew Goddard, who directed Cabin in the Woods, was a creator behind the Netflix Daredevil series, and helped develop the Sinister Six feature, could possibly direct “The New Avenger”. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet and only time will tell.

The Untitled Spider-Man Project will be out July 2017, director and cast TBA. Captain America: Civil War will touchdown May 6, 2016.
