Sonia Braga joins the cast of Luke Cage as Soledad Temple, mother of Claire Temple.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he cast of Marvel’s Luke Cage has grown a little bit bigger with Marvel announcing that Sonia Braga would be joining the cast of Luke Cage as Soledad Temple. Although this will be the first time this character is shown in any of Marvel’s TV series, her daughter, Claire Temple (played by Rosario Dawson), has appeared in Daredevil and Jessica Jones and will reprise her role in Luke Cage.
Executive producer for the series Jeph Loeb commented saying, “A character as strong as Claire needs an equally powerful mother, and with Sonia we found the perfect actress to deliver the stellar performance we needed. In Luke Cage, fans will now get a chance to see where Claire got the fire we love her for.”
Luke Cage stars Mike Colter reprising his role as the titular character and his struggle to rebuild his life in Harlem but must soon confront his past and battle for his city.
Luke Cage will be Marvel’s third series of five total that will premiere on Netflix, the first two being Daredevil and Jessica Jone, and the second two being a series following the superhero Iron Fist and a series based around the Defenders, which will bring the four title characters together.
Luke Cage premieres on Netflix in 2016.
