After only 24 days in theaters, the Avengers sequel grossed over a billion dollars worldwide. That’s billion… with a B.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]ccording to Box Office Mojo, Avengers: Age of Ultron has grossed a current total of $1,181,478,000 worldwide after only having been in theaters for three and a half weeks. Impressive.

Marvel is absolutely no stranger to films hitting the billion mark, with 2012’s The Avengers grossing roughly $1.5 billion, and 2013’s Iron Man 3 grossing about $1.2 billion.

Age of Ultron has been fairly well-received by fans and critics. It’s even been “certified fresh” with a 75% on Rotten Tomatoes.

This is the Hulk’s happy face.

.

It may have only earned the second highest opening weekend in the U.S. with $191.3 million behind it’s predecessor at $207.4 million, but it did earn bragging rights in many foreign markets.

Ultron had the largest opening weekend ever in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Also worth mentioning is that on opening day in China the film grossed $34 million, making it the largest opening day ever for Marvel in China.

Love it or hate it, it’s making a boatload of money. I guess we’ll be getting a few more of these Avengers movies.
