A rumor is going around that Kraven could be the new potential villain for the new Spider-Man film.

One of the workers at Sony was reported to have purchased the Kraven’s Last Hunt comic book that could suggest some research being done on the character for the film.[/toggler]
Marvel and Sony have been working hard to get the character roles locked down for the standalone Spider-Man film. They have nailed down a number of the roles including Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Marisa Tomei possibly as Aunt May, Jon Watts to most likely direct, and John Francis Daley and Jonathan M Goldstein to write the film’s screenplay. However, many different possibilities of a villain have been thrown around in the last few weeks. One of the rumors included Matthew McConaughey as the Green Goblin as well as other possible villains including Scorpion or Vulture. Nothing has been confirmed, but new rumors were released today that claim that Kraven the Hunter could be the film’s villain.
It was reported that Sony’s Vice President of Creative Affairs, Karen Moy, made a purchase on Amazon that consisted of Marvel’s comic, Kraven’s Last Hunt. While this may be a stretch, Moy has worked under Amy Pascal in the past, and has actually purchased books for Pascal in her previous job. Pascal is set to be the producer of the untitled Spider-Man film. It is believed that Moy made the purchase of the paperback in order to conduct some research on the Kraven character to possibly make him the main villain in the Spider-Man film.
Kraven the Hunter is a well renowned big game hunter with no known “super powers” but possesses superhuman strength and agility. He believes that Spider-Man would be the ultimate trophy catch which becomes the root of his desire to catch and kill Spidey. Kraven’s Last Hunt was written back in 1987 and tells the story of Kraven’s hunt to kill Spider-Man. It has been voted as one of the best Spider-Man stories of all time.
Goldstein and Daley recently stated that the original prediction of Vulture and Scorpion as the villains was actually inaccurate. There is still no confirmed word of the villain to be played in this film, but the film is expected to apart of another Spider-Man trilogy that could feature a number of villains. Not to mention, the crew actually has a lot of time to determine different aspects of the trilogy seeing as it’s not expected to release until 2017. Kraven has been regarded as one of the best Spidey villains in the comics and he has yet to get a big screen appearance in any of the recent Spider-Man films.
