KPop Demon Hunters Takes Over Fortnite Tomorrow in New Collab

Huntrix is stepping off the stage and onto the Fortnite Island, and we’re both excited and terrified.

Netflix’s breakout KPop-meets-demon-slaying sensation KPop Demon Hunters is about to make your sweaty Fortnite lobbies even sweatier. That’s right: HUNTR/X (Huntrix)—the smash-hit girl group/idol trio/demon slayers—are officially arriving in Fortnite. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect, because starting tomorrow, October 2, players can dive headfirst into the brand-new Demon Rush limited-time mode to seal away the “honmoon”. How that will work in the battle royale isn’t exactly clear but whatever, we just can’t wait to do a HUNTR/X emote on top of all the 12yos we are going to knock in squads.

But Epic Games isn’t stopping with just some demon-slaying set dressing. Oh no. They’re dropping a whole arsenal of themed toys to make sure your next Victory Royale feels like you’ve raided the props department of a neon-saturated KPop video shoot. We’re talking Rumi’s Empowered Sword (for when you want to cosplay as a Final Fantasy protagonist on a sugar high), Zoey’s Golden Bubble Shield (because nothing says “idol life” like protecting your squadmates with a magical hamster ball), and Mira’s X-tra Spicy Ramyeon consumable (finally, a snack break item in Fortnite that doubles as mood lighting for your digestive tract). Oh, and let’s not forget the Derpy Teleporter Mask, which lets you zip around the Island like a deranged stagehand trying to fix the pyrotechnics mid-performance.

And if slapping demons around the map isn’t enough, Epic’s also making sure you can flex your fandom in style. All three HUNTR/X skins are hitting the Item Shop tomorrow, complete with accessories, matching back bling, and even a LEGO Fortnite variant for when you want to look like a KPop idol but blockier. Because if there’s one thing Fortnite does better than anyone else, it’s convincing us to spend $20 real-world dollars on outfits we’ll only see for 30 seconds before getting sniped in the face.

If you somehow missed the memo, KPop Demon Hunters was Netflix’s biggest animated swing this summer. The film dropped in June, and within days the Huntrix anthem “Golden” lodged itself into our skulls like an exorcism that didn’t take. The soundtrack dominated the Billboard Top 100 for months, the movie pulled a five-star review from us (yes, us, the most jaded people alive), and fans couldn’t stop quoting, cosplaying, or—God help us—TikToking every frame.

Now Huntrix is stepping off the stage and onto the Fortnite Island, and we’re both excited and terrified. Excited because demon-hunting idols with katanas and bubble shields sound like the kind of chaos Fortnite thrives on. Terrified because now we’re going to have “Golden” stuck in our heads every time we drop into Tilted Towers (or whatever its called this season).
