Director Joss Whedon reveals why Loki didn’t make it into the movie.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]vengers: Age of Ultron got its official release this weekend and many fans are wondering why Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, did not appear in the movie.

During a recent interview with MTV Joss Whedon revealed that they did shoot footage with Loki in it, however the powers that be decided to leave it out of the film. “We did shoot something, but it didn’t play,” he said. “I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision … at some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.”

Perhaps Marvel didn’t want to fall into the same trap as they did with Spider-Man 3 where they overloaded the villain character pool and the plot depth suffered as a result? All we have is speculation, see the interview below.

The good news for you Loki Lovers is he has been confirmed for the third installment of Thor: Ragnarok set to release July 28, 2017. While you wait those 2 years, find some time to catch the new Avengers: Age of Ultron movie. Even Loki-less it delivers on all accounts.
