With no solid source or public statement from Warner Bros. it’s hard to tell if the rumors are true.
Yesterday, reports surfaced claiming negotiations between Warner Bros. and Henry Cavill broke down after the studio failed to persuade the 35-year old British star to do a brief cameo as Superman in the upcoming film Shazam! Supposedly the inability to reach an agreement has lead many to believe Henry Cavill is on his way out as portraying the man of steel. However, in response to this rumor the actor posted a video to Instagram which can be seen below with the caption “Today was exciting #Superman”. Check it out.
In a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. said, “We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged. Additionally we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films.” With such a tight lipped statement it’s hard to figure out just what is going on in the DCEU.
But, in other news, Jon Hamm has expressed his interest in portraying Batman “if the script is good” so at least we have that to look forward to (or to hate).
