The comedy series has been canned, despite being renewed earlier this year.
Sad news for you Brink fans out there. HBO has announced that they will no longer move forward with developing a second season of their political satire series starring Jack Black.
Even though HBO renewed the series earlier this summer for a second season, recently, they have decided to cancel it.
“After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give ‘The Brink’ the attention it deserves for a second season,” HBO explained in a statement. “We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.”
Besides Black, the series starred Tim Robbins and Pablo Schreiber as three members of different branches in the US government, each dealing with a global crisis they had a hand in creating.
While the series had solid ratings during its run last spring, with 1.1 million viewers on average per episode, it couldn’t bring in a wide new audience like HBO’s other new comedy, Ballers, which brought in record-breaking rating for the premium cable network.
We weren’t huge fans of The Brink, but it definitely had its moments, and we’re sad to see it go.
Go make Jack Black feel better by seeing Goosebumps or something.
