OOGA CHAKA OOGA CHAKA
It’s time once again to come and get your love, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has now entered production!
With filming for the anticipated sequel now underway in Atlanta, Georgia, Marvel Studios and director James Gunn shared the first bit of official information about the film, as well as the latest additions to the cast.
Marvel confirmed what many fans expected, as it looks like the film will indeed revolve around the identity of Star-Lord’s father.
“Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.”
Who will be playing this mysterious character? Well, we still don’t know for sure, but we have a pretty good idea, thanks to the announcement of the film’s new cast members.
Joining Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E),Chris Sullivan (The Knick), and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight).

While Debicki and Sullivan’s casting hasn’t been previously announced, we’ve known for a while that Klementieff would join the film, and it’s been speculated she will play the telepathic martial artist Mantis.
Well, after being endlessly nagged by fans on Twitter, Gunn confirmed Klementieff’s role; but he refused to reveal anything else.

Mr. Miracle on Ice and Snake Plissken himself, Kurt Russell, met with Marvel last December to apparently discuss joining Guardians 2 in the role of Star-Lord’s father.
While what role Russell specifically discussed, and now cast as, hasn’t been officially confirmed, it’s looking more and more like Russell will be big bad Papa Quill.
We’ll just have to wait and see, but we’re excited he’ll be in the film regardless of the role.
The movie will, of course, also see the main cast from the original film return, meaning, Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), and Vin Diesel (Groot), as well as Michael Rooker as Yondu, and Karen Gillan as Nebula.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
