It’s safe to say there are few movies that are as reviled as the Ghostbusters reboot, a film which has yet to be released in theaters.
Plagued by fans disapproving ever announcement related to the film, including the news it would not follow the continuity of the original series, it’s all female cast, and most notably, the trailer.
People really don’t like this trailer, and now it’s historic. Ghostbusters is the most disliked movie trailer ever on YouTube.
Currently, the trailer has 29,580,726 views, 211,758 likes, and a whopping 594,855 dislikes.
ScreenCrush has compared the trailer to other disliked previews, like FANT4STIC, which has 20,175 dislikes, and Ridiculous Six, which only has 5,803 dislikes.
With nearly 600,000 dislikes, the Ghostbusters trailer is currently the 23rd most disliked video on YouTube. A playlist tracking the 100 Most Disliked Videos reveals it is nestled between Justin Beiber’s “What Do You Mean,” and Megan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” along with being the only trailer on the list.
While an impressive feat for sure, obviously this poorly cut trailer may not reflect whether or not the film is actually good, but many are seemingly convinced it will. Most of said individuals can be found in the comments section of the trailer, which is polluted with hatred, misogynistic remarks, and “1,000,000 dislikes” campaigns.
We encourage you to like or dislike whatever you want, but please, refrain from toxic behavior, and try to reserve judgement for when the film actually comes out.
Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15.
