The Flower Knight is getting ready to fight.
At last, the identity of the final MCU Defender has been revealed.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Finn Jones has been cast as Iron Fist, aka Daniel Rand, for the Marvel Netflix series of the same name.
Jones is best known for this role as Ser Loras Tyrell, aka the Flower Knight, on Game of Thrones, which he currently busy with, as production for the sixth season of the immensely popular HBO series continues.
In the comics, an orphaned Daniel Rand trained in the mystical city K’un-L’un, where he gains the power of the Iron Fist, an ancient source of Chi that allows him to channel all of his strength into his hand. Following this training, Rand returns home to Hell’s Kitchen, New York, to fight crime as the Iron Fist.
Iron Fist will get his own Netflix series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and soon, Luke Cage, and eventually, the four heroes will band together for a Defenders miniseries, also on Netflix.
Apparently, Marvel had cast Iron Fist some time ago, but kept the role a secret until now. Many speculated, ourselves included, that Ryan Phillippe would receive the role, but obviously that no longer seems to be the case.
Jones has always been charming and charismatic on Game of Thrones, so we just hope he can throw a powerful punch.
Iron Fist will premiere on Netflix.
