Remember how The Legend of Korra ended with peace, spirit portals, and the tantalizing idea that maybe, just maybe, the world was finally going to get its crap together? Yeah, well, forget all that. Because in Avatar: Seven Havens, the world is extra screwed, and the new Avatar isn’t being hailed as a spiritual messiah—she’s being hunted like she just broke into a spirit Costco and knocked over all the chi.
Announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (right after someone else tried to reboot something nobody asked for), Avatar: Seven Havens is the next official chapter in the Avatarverse, and it’s being helmed by the Avatar daddies themselves, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. That’s right, the original creators are back, which means the writing will be tight, the animation will be 2D and beautiful, and there will be at least one ridable animal companion that becomes everyone’s emotional support plushie.

The series follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the next Avatar after Korra. But rather than receiving a parade, a welcoming committee, she’s immediately branded as a threat to humanity. That’s because the world—both the physical realm and the Spirit World—has been torn apart by a cataclysm, and the Avatar is largely to blame. What’s left of civilization now exists in the Seven Havens, scattered strongholds that sound peaceful but probably aren’t, because nothing ever is in post-apocalyptic/cataclysmic fiction unless someone’s about to die tragically.
Oh, and in case the whole “hunted by humans and spirits alike” thing wasn’t stressful enough, Pavi also reconnects with her long-lost twin sibling, because why not throw in some family trauma for seasoning? Together, they’ll uncover their origins, dig into the history of the Avatar Cycle, and presumably argue over who gets to ride the animal companion in the front.
The Details, for Those Who Read Patch Notes:
- Title: Avatar: Seven Havens
- Format: 2D animation (bless them for not trying 3D)
- Seasons: 2
- Episodes: 13 per season, so 26 total
- Premiere Year: 2027, just in time for the world to feel extra relatable
- Studio: Avatar Studios (you know, the team that gets it)
This isn’t just some quick nostalgia cash-grab. This is a full-on, lovingly crafted sequel series with real stakes, new lore, and creators who actually care about the story. Seven Havens is diving headfirst into darker territory, asking the big questions like: “What happens when the Avatar isn’t seen as a savior anymore?” and “How many new tattoo-worthy animal companions can we legally introduce before fans start naming their kids after them?”
It’s bold. It’s haunting. It’s Avatar—but more grown-up, more dangerous, and just as spiritually satisfying. If The Last Airbender was your childhood, and Korra was your angsty adolescence, Seven Havens is here for your emotionally complex, debt-ridden adulthood.
Bring it on, 2027. We’ve been waiting.
