Star Wars, Pixar, Marvel, and Fox: all together for a monthly price less than Netflix (for now).
This past week Disney finally revealed details on their much hyped streaming service Disney Plus (+). A lot was revealed so let’s break it down.
The big news is that Disney Plus launches on November 12, and will cost $7 (!) a month, or $70 a year. Within the first year, the streaming service will have over 7,500 episodes and 500 movies from the Disney library.
Disney Plus will offer content from every branch of the Disney brand. Specifically, classic animated films currently part of the Signature Collection (Disney Vault) will be available to stream (or download like Netflix) on day one. All Pixar films will make their way to the service within the first year of launch.
All Star Wars films will also be available within the first year of launch too, not to mention The Mandalorian live-action series and a series based on Rogue One character Cassian Andor. AND eventually the seventh season of the beloved animated series The Clone Wars, which just got a new trailer!
Disney Plus will also host three Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries! Get ready for Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, WandaVision (10/10 name) starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprising their roles as Scarlet Witch and Vision, and The Falcon and The Winter Solider starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Official details on these series have yet to be disclosed (we probably won’t hear anything until after Avengers: Endgame), but it is rumored The Falcon and The Winter Solider will focus on the two titular characters finally getting married and having lots of babies. This is a rumor I made up and have been telling everyone so that it will hopefully come true.
There’s a lot more coming to the service (read more about that here) but one last thing we’re really excited about is all 30 seasons of The Simpsons will be available to stream at launch. Well, we’re excited about like nine of those seasons, but that’s incredible none the less. They’re really excited about it too!
