Disney CEO Says Star Wars And Marvel Franchises Will Last Forever

Good to know that we will still be getting new content from these two franchises when I’m an old man!

[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]oth of these franchises have existed for a long time and it looks like Disney will not stop making content for these two anytime soon. In fact, they plan to keep these two going until the end of time.

That may seem like a really bold statement to make, but in reality, there’s a lot that has been done with Star Wars and Marvel. The countless amounts of comics and mini-series that have been made, telling stories of heroes and villains and their adventures.

This is especially true for Marvel, given the amount of solo movies that have been created and the ones that have yet to be released. Marvel’s movie schedule within the next few years can tell you how much content they are able to create and distribute out to their fans. Upcoming films for Marvel include Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War Series, another Ant-Man movie and The Inhumans. Three Spider-Man movies (yet to be titled) will be under way.

For Star Wars, Rogue One will be released in December this year and Star Wars Episode VIII will follow the next winter. Other movies that are in Disney’s plans include a Han Solo spinoff and the possibility of a Boba Fett movie.

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that there will be more Star Wars movies after the ones that are already planned out.

“There will be more [Star Wars films] after that,” he told BBC Newsbeat. “I don’t know how many, I don’t know how often.”

Iger also commented on the Marvel Universe:

“Marvel, you’re dealing with thousands and thousands of characters – that will go on forever.”

When asked if fans would get tired of watching superhero movies, Iger replied:

“No, I don’t think they’re getting weary.”

“But I think we keep raising the bar in terms of telling stories that bring them back, that excites them, that makes it feel new and that is what we do for a living.”

The next Marvel movie will be Captain America: Civil War, which will be released on May 6th!
