It appears it was a mutual decision between the director and Twentieth Century Fox.
[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]ad news Gambit fans, it appears that Channing Tatum’s film about the mutant who has the ability to tap into an object’s contained potential energy and turn it into kinetic energy by touching has run into another setback. According to sources close to Variety, director Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) has left the director’s seat of Gambit for Warner Bros.’ adaption of Dark Universe, otherwise known as Justice League Dark.
Justice League Dark was a comic book series from DC Entertainment that followed a ragtag team of supernatural superheroes that deal with threats against humanity from, you guessed it, the supernatural. The team generally contains the characters John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon, although other characters have been known to be part of the team.
Whether or not Keanu Reeves will return to his role of Constantine, or Matt Ryan from NBC’s Constantine, or just a different actor completely has yet to be determined. One thing is certain, however, either Justice League Dark will be an adequate film that pleases fans or it will crash and burn like previous DC films such as Suicide Squad.
