Digimon Wants You to Beta Test Their New Mobile Card Game

The fate of the Digital World might not actually depend on it, but your bragging rights sure do.

Bandai Card Games has launched the worldwide closed beta test for their upcoming mobile game, Digimon Alysion. And because nothing says “hype machine” like slapping the word closed on a beta, they’re inviting 10,000 fans across the globe to stress test their servers and maybe break the game a little—politely, of course.

This is not a drill. You, yes you, can now head over to digimon-alysion.com/en/ and apply for a shot at playing this app before everyone else. But don’t procrastinate—applications close Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 1:59 AM UTC, which is Bandai’s way of saying “set your alarm or suffer eternal regret.”

Wait—What Even Is Digimon Alysion?
Imagine the Digimon Card Game—the surprisingly good one that emerged from the long shadow of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh—and now imagine that, but in your pocket and draining your phone battery like it’s a Digivice with ADHD.

Digimon Alysion is a mobile game for iOS and Android that lets players build decks, sling cards, and summon their favorite digital monsters for tactical battles. And it’s not just a carbon copy of the physical card game—it’s tied into the Digimon Liberator comic and novel universe, and will feature a brand new story, original characters, and Digimon with fresh, never-before-seen evolution paths. That’s right—get ready for your childhood nostalgia to evolve into something that makes your old Tamagotchi look like a potato.

Why a Closed Beta?
Because “Open Beta” apparently sounds too basic. According to Bandai, this closed beta will provide more “focused feedback,” which is Japanese PR-speak for “we want to catch bugs before Reddit turns them into memes.” The goal? Test the servers, fine-tune the gameplay, and collect precious data from the 10,000 chosen ones before the game’s full release.

So if you ever dreamed of helping shape a Digimon game without needing to know a single line of code or how to draw a dinosaur in sunglasses, this is your shot.

Between last year’s 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime, the Digimon Con 2025 stream reveal, and the slow, inevitable march of every franchise into mobile monetization, Digimon Alysion feels like Bandai’s way of saying, “Hey, we still got it—and this time, it fits in your pants.”

Now go apply. The fate of the Digital World might not actually depend on it, but your bragging rights sure do.
