The Punisher in season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil is a shoot first, ask questions later kind of guy.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he first season of Marvel’s Daredevil ended in a way that tied up loose ends and left fans with not too many questions. Of course, the first season was dark and bloody, definitely more so than the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are, but the show evolved at a steady pace. However in the second season, this is all going to change thanks to one man, the Punisher.

The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil is wasting no time in introducing Frank Castle (The Punisher) thanks to its showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez. In fact, the anti-hero will be introduced right away in the very first episode of the second season.

“The advantage of any sequel is you can dive right in,” Petrie says. “We hit the ground running and then we ran as fast as we f—ing could”.

One of the first things that fans of the show will realize is that the Punisher and Daredevil are two completely different men. Matt Murdock is a man who follows his own personal creed, a creed that is heavily influenced by his Catholic upbringing. Frank Castle, on the other hand, is a man who is ex-Special Forces and he has symptoms of PTSD and baggage from what he has experienced in war. These two men will eventually confront one another in a way that forces viewers to question the reasons for each man’s actions and the morals of both Matt Murdock and Frank Castle.

“Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people — the way we force Matt — to second-guess themselves,” Petrie says. “Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s–t. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If you’ve got a gun and you’re not the police you’re going to incite strong feelings. We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think.”

While we don’t know the exact date for when the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil will be released on Netflix in 2016 one thing is certain, this second season is definitely going to be worth the wait.
