Community Finds A New Home

After the NBC cancellation and the Hulu deal falling through, it was looking like all hope for Community’s #SixSeasonsAndAMovie was lost. Until today.

It was revealed earlier that Community will indeed be returning this fall… to Yahoo! Screen.

As the cast’s contracts were set to expire at midnight tonight, Yahoo has announced that they will be bringing the popular cult TV series to their own streaming network for another 13 episodes. Yahoo has been looking to add their own original content for quite some time now and this news might be exactly what they need to gain traction against the competition.

The show’s creator, Dan Harmon, is set to return alongside Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash. However, there is still no news yet on whether other cast members including Donald Glover will be returning as well.

Needless to say, the entire cast is extremely grateful and excited to be bringing another season to the internet. In fact, frontrunner Joel McHale was quoted saying:

“#SixSeasonAndAMovie is real. Thank you Sony. Thank you Yahoo. Thank you Dan Harmon. And thank you to the greatest fucking fans in the history of the human race. It’s the internet. We can swear now.”

The sixth season of Community is set to debut sometime in the fall. No word yet on a movie, but after having beaten all the odds to come this far, I can’t see why they wouldn’t be able to make that miracle happen as well.
