‘Captain America: Civil War’ crushes international Box Office with $200 Million debut

Captain America: Civil War is a smash hit it the global box office!

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he newest release of Marvel’s cinematic universe has received great reviews from critics and fans alike and it’s already certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (94%). The film has already grossed over 200 million in the global box office and is looking to take the top spot of the charts when it releases in the U.S this weekend.

The film has opened at number 1 in every market it has released in so far except Japan where the number 1 film is a new animated Conan film. The film has seen great success in Asia where it became the Philippines top industry opening ever, earning $7.7 million, 4% ahead of The Avengers: Age of Ultron (the previous title holder).

Meanwhile in Latin America the film continues to dominate theaters as it has become Mexico’s top opening ever, raking in $20.4! That’s a whopping 22% more than Age Of Ultron.

Europe also treated the movie well as it became the UK’s 2nd biggest opening day and weekend of 2016 cashing in $20.5M, making it the 3rd best opening for an MCU title in that market. It opened up to $10.1 million in France , $8.1 million in Germany and $4.2 million in Spain where it failed to surpass The Jungle Book.

The movie releases in some of the world’s top markets next this weekend such as China, Russia, Argentina and of course the good ol’ USA. It’ll be great to see just how much the numbers shoot up upon its release in these markets!
