Deadpool 2 is set to begin filming in the next couple months. Meanwhile, Pools partner in crime Cable has yet to be cast for the upcoming film. director David Leitch has confirmed that the list has one less actor: Brad Pitt. Leaked production art showing Pitt as Cable surfaced onto the web, but apparently the cool cybernetically enhanced Cable body wasn’t enough to convince him to play Nathan Summers.

“We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property,” Leitch confirmed. “Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable.”

With Pitt being off the list, there are still several others on the Cable casting list, including Michael Shannon, David Harbour, and Russel Crowe. Crowe himself reached out to Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld on Twitter last month after fan art was posted showing him as Nathan Summers.

Leitch also speaks on his plans to up the action in Deadpool 2:

“There’s more action in this film. I hope we can expand it and make it interesting in an 87Eleven kinda way,” Leitch went on to say:
“The completely irreverent tone was the thing that won me over about the first ‘Deadpool’ movie. I want to deliver on what they did and at the same time hopefully expand the universe.”

More rumors have surfaced on Michael Shannon being the current top choice for Cable.
With Pitt out of the picture, Shannon seems the most likely to land the role.
