Warner Bros. is planning on releasing an HBO Max-exclusive film in the form of Batman’s female sidekick, Batgirl, starring Leslie Grace in the titular role of Barbara Gordon. Joining her is none other than Brendan Fraser who is allegedly going to be playing the villainous pyromaniac Firefly in the movie, if sources are to be believed.

We don’t know much about the plot or the aesthetic vision planned for the film but we can assume it will follow Warner Bros. obsessively dark comicbook tone that follows the likes of the recent DCEU string of films. We also aren’t sure whether or not Batgirl will be a one-off like Phoenix’s Joker, or if it will be a spinoff within the same universe as an already existing DC film property. All we know is, Fraser is the man and we love the casting choice regardless of the role he ends up in.
Currently, fans can see Fraser as Cliff Steele, aka Robotman in the DC television series Doom Patrol, a spinoff of sorts from their other show, Titans.
Batgirl is currently scheduled to release on the HBO Max streaming service sometime in 2022.
