Borderlands 4 just launched this week, and in true PC-gaming fashion, it immediately tripped over its own shoelaces. Yes, performance on PC has been a bit rocky—think “claptrap on roller skates rocky.” But here’s the thing: those who can actually run the game without their GPU crying for mercy are absolutely loving it. They’re tearing across the wasteland, mowing down psycho fodder, and hunting for that sweet, elusive Legendary gear that makes your Vault Hunter feel less like a scrappy mercenary and more like a one-person apocalypse.
And let me emphasize: elusive is the key word here. After Borderlands 3 drowned us in so many Legendary drops it felt like Oprah was hiding in every loot chest screaming “YOU GET A SHOTGUN!”, Gearbox finally listened. In Borderlands 4, they’ve made Legendaries something you actually have to chase again. They’re rare. They’re powerful. They’re the digital equivalent of finding a golden ticket, except instead of candy you get to vaporize bandits in spectacularly violent fashion.
Now, if you’re feeling lucky—or just lazy—there’s another option. Gearbox has already dropped a couple of Golden Keys that can be redeemed in-game at the sacred Golden Chests.
And while the official @Borderlands socials do share SHiFT Codes that contain Golden Keys as the reward, they aren’t the best source for codes. So we chose to instead share our favorite Borderlands SHiFT Code Collector, @ShiftCodesTK. They post every code they find across all sources imaginable. Seriously, follow them or create a Discord channel dedicated just for their social posts so you don’t miss a code. That’s what we do. Ayway, here are your codes:
New SHiFT Codes for Borderlands 4!
Expires: September 30, 2025*
Reward: 1 Golden Key per SHiFT CodeAll Platforms:
– THRBT-WW6CB-56TB5-3B3BJ-XBW3X
– T9RJB-BFKRR-3RBTW-B33TB-KCZB9 https://t.co/XdS80SQ7VD— ShiftCodesTK (@ShiftCodesTK) September 12, 2025
Now, unlike past games, you had one Golden Chest where you could use your Golden Keys to get your rewards but it seems Borderlands 4 is so damn big, you get several locations each with a Golden Chest that you can use your Golden Keys on.
- The Launchpad (The Fadefields)
- Belton’s Bore (Terminus Range)
- Carcadia (Carcadia Burn)
- The Lockaway (Dominion)
Crack one open, and you just might score a Legendary without grinding your sanity into Borderlands-brand paste. But here’s the catch: there aren’t many SHiFT codes floating around yet. That means Golden Keys are currently about as common as a sensible haircut on a Psycho.
At this time, we do not know if the reward pools are any different nor do we know if more locations will come in the future.
As the weeks roll on, Gearbox will start sprinkling SHiFT codes around like breadcrumbs for loot-hungry pigeons. Expect them from developer livestreams, Twitter drops, promotional emails, and maybe that one guy in your group chat who always seems to know this stuff before anyone else. When you snag one, redeem it on the official SHiFT site and enjoy your spoils: Golden Keys, cosmetics, and occasionally that “one gun” that will finally make your Vault Hunter feel like a god.
Also, remember that many of these SHiFT Codes have an expiration date, so you want to grab them while they are still valid before they are gone forever. Oh, and SAVE them until you are at max level. Never waste Golden Keys on early level builds. Thank as later.
So keep your eyes peeled, Vault Hunters. Legendary loot won’t just walk up to you this time—you’ll have to chase it, fight for it, or shamelessly crack open Golden Chests like it’s Black Friday at a gun show. Either way, welcome to Borderlands 4. There be loot to track down.
