Bah-la-la-la-la!
It looks like Disney’s Oscar winning animated film Big Hero 6 is heading to the small screen.
Hiro, Baymax, and the rest of the team will star in a TV series on Disney XD based off the Marvel property.
The series is being developed by Kim Possible creators Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, who have already begun production on the show.
Set after the events of the film, the series will follow the team as they fight new high-tech villains, as well as Hiro trying to balance crime fighting with school work as the newest, and youngest, student of the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.
“Our colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid, unique characters,” explained Gary Marsh, president of Disney Channels Worldwide. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series — full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob — and Baymax — can deliver.”
Besides TV, Big Hero 6 will be featured in Kingdom Hearts 3 as a new world, with a new storyline also taking place after the events of the first film.
We loved Big Hero 6, and while we would prefer a proper theatrical sequel, we have faith this series will deliver.
Big Hero 6 the Series will premiere on Disney XD in 2017.
