The Batman v Superman star feels the pressure to produce a DC film that is actually worth watching.
[dropcap size=small]U[/dropcap]nlike Warner Bros., who seems to think rapidly producing films based on comic books with no regard to backstory or character development will generate profit and/or a pleased fan base, Ben Affleck knows that if you’re going to produce a film like this you’re going to have to do it right. In a recent interview with USA Today for his upcoming film Live by Night, Ben Affleck took the time to discuss where he was at with The Batman film and how he felt about the project.
“Superhero movies get the level of attention that is nothing like any film I’ve done. You cast the 14th lead in these movies and the Internet goes crazy. I understand and embrace that. That’s part of the pressure that comes with doing it. That’s why I am not going to do it, unless I really feel confident about it.”
Ben Affleck absolutely nailed it with that statement because he is right, comic books movies are all the hype in Hollywood right now in a way that has never been seen before. Many past and seasoned directors and actors have claimed that it is similar to the way Western-style films were popular back in the 50s but there is a major difference here due to the fan base and where these superhero films come from. Luckily, it seems that Ben Affleck is in no rush to begin production until he feels that everything is perfect. With that, we can only hope that we get a DC film that doesn’t rival Marvel films but definitely pleases its own fans.
