In a recent interview with Collider, Jon Hamm and Allison Janney talked about their experiences and opinions of the recently released Minions film.
The most recent animated film, ‘Minions’, was just released in theaters on July 10th. Allison Janney and Jon Hamm took to the sound booth for this movie playing the roles of Madge Nelson and Herb Overkill, two characters in the movie. Hamm and Janney recently did an interview with Collider to talk about their roles in the movie and their opinions on the animated Minions film.
When asked about his character, Hamm claimed that he actually had a lot of input into the nature of Herb Overkill. He said in order to figure out an animated character you start “messing around with voices in your head like a crazy person or like a child basically, like a kid. I’d flash back to being a little kid and watching cartoons and thinking, ‘I wonder if I could do that,’ and talking to myself, you know, things I do normally in my day-to-day life.” Hamm also claimed that he was initially a huge fan of the Minions franchise back when he watched the second film. The Minions-based third film was started around when the second ‘Despicable Me’ film came out, which was what initially sparked Hamm’s interest. Janney also found interest in doing the movie, but regarding doing animated films, she claimed that it was “a little weird accepting your voice coming out of an animated character. You don’t buy it at first because it’s your voice and none of us like our voices when we hear them recorded back.” Interviewers also asked Janney if she could have a Minion would she want one. She replied “Yes. Everyone’s lives would run much smoother with some Minions, I think. And just for love, too. I would love to have a little Bob in my pocket everywhere I go. I just love Bob so much. I’d just fall in love with him and I’d take care of him.”
I’m sure all of us would love to have our own personal minion, whether it’s for them to run our errands or if we just need someone to love at the end of the day. The little yellow guys came out in theaters July 10th, and topped the box office this weekend with a whopping $115 Million.
