Reincarnated as a Sword is returning for Season 2 as part of HIDIVE’s Fall 2026 lineup, streaming exclusively for subscribers across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
An official English subtitled trailer is already live on YouTube for anyone who needs to immediately remind themselves why this series earned the fanbase it has, and HIDIVE will be presenting the North American premiere of Season 2 on Saturday, August 22nd at Anime NYC 2026.
That premiere screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Director Shinji Ishihira and Producers Yosuke Shimada and Genta Ozaki, who are making the trip out specifically for the event.
For anyone coming to the series fresh, the premise is exactly the kind of wildly specific isekai concept that sounds like it should not work and then absolutely does. A man dies and wakes up reincarnated as a sword, uses telekinesis to drag himself around a monster filled world, and accumulates skills and abilities along the way until a young girl named Fran picks him up, defeats a monster with him on the spot, and names him Shishou.
The two form a partnership built around a shared goal, because Fran belongs to the Black Cat Tribe, a Beastkin group with a rough reputation and a track record of never producing a member who has evolved into a mightier beast. Fran intends to be the first, honoring a dream her parents carried before her, and Shishou commits to staying by her side until she gets there.
The dynamic between a sentient sword with a whole interior life and a young girl carrying the weight of her entire tribe’s history turns out to be genuinely compelling television, which is why the return of Season 2 is landing with the level of anticipation it is.
The Fall 2026 simulcast season is shaping up to be one of HIDIVE’s strongest yet, and Reincarnated as a Sword sitting at the center of it is a very good sign for where the season is headed.
