Grab some candy beans and a mayonegg, because the Bluth family is finally back (again)!
The official trailer for the fifth season of Arrested Development is here, alongside the announcement that it will be available to stream on Netflix starting May 29.
The cult sitcom built on reoccurring jokes initially returned via Netflix in 2013 (seven years after it was canceled on Fox) for a fourth season, but was met with polarizing reviews due to a new style where each episode followed one character (so to best accommodate the busy schedules of the cast).
It looks like the fifth season will see the Bluth family back together and up for the coveted “Family of the Year” award, and (inexplicably) Lindsay is running for Congress. There’s plenty of call backs already in the trailer too, like Tobias’s apparent hair plugs, and George Michael’s muscle suit from the Living Classics Pageant.
The trailer also not so subtly emphasizes that this is a “new new beginning” for the Bluth family, no doubt a jab at the fourth season, but there’s still time to catch up if you skipped it. Available to stream right now on Netflix is “Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences,” a new take on the fourth season that recuts the original 15 episodes into 22 interwoven episodes similar to the original three seasons. Unlike Tobias, we hope this remix isn’t a blowhard.
