Get ready to embrace the meme this fall.
During the Anime Boston event, Viz Media announced that Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha will get an official English release this fall.
Announcement: Dragon Ball: That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha! releases November 2018. This manga follows a die-hard Dragon Ball fan who is reincarnated as Yamcha—Dragon Ball’s biggest punching bag and total internet meme. pic.twitter.com/sHat1DZ8QI

The spinoff story authored by Dragon Garow Lee follows an ordinary modern-day Dragon Ball fan who dies and is reincarnated as Yamcha. Although originally distressed, the boy realizes he can use his knowledge of the events of the series to his advantage, and is able to succeed where the actual Yamcha fails (and dies).
For example, the reincarnated Yamcha goes off to train with Goku and Master Roshi immediately after summoning Shenron near the beginning of Dragon Ball, and afterwards he even goes to Namek and his hidden potential unlocked by Grand Elder Guru before the events of the Saiyan Saga, allowing him to defeat the Saibamen singlehandedly.
Towards the end, the story has a pretty great twist that ties it into Dragon Ball Super, so we’re not going to spoil that here.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha is super goofy and we love that Yamcha finally gets his time to shine, so definitely check it out this November.
