Shadow of the Colossus comes to PS4 consoles this coming February, and it is built from the ground-up.
Imagine you are an artist. You have a skill set that proves impressive, and you implement that skill set on a masterpiece work of art. Years later, you take that piece of art and you touch it up a bit. With the knowledge you have learned over the years of fine-tuning your artistic hand, you had a few extra brush strokes here, some additional lighting there, simply improving the existing piece with touch-ups to improve your vision from years before.
Now imagine that you instead start over completely, and re-draw the masterpiece from scratch. You take all that you have learned over years of mastering the artistry and apply new techniques to your brush strokes, how you mix color pallets, and apply all of that to a brand new work of art that far exceeds anything you could have imagined before.
This is the difference between what JAPAN Studio and Bluepoint Games have done with Shadow the Colossus. They did not take the existing game, in its base form and improve textures and lighting. They instead started over completely and rebuilt Shadow of the Colossus in a whole new way that feels worthy of current generation technology.
As you can plainly see in the teaser trailer above, this new version of the classic PS2 masterpiece is worthy of sharing the same title. It is as beautiful as it is vibrant, and an epic way to bring forward a classic to modern gamers.
Shadow of the Colossus comes to PS4 on February 26, 2018 for $39.99 USD.
