Aquaman Rises To The Surface
James Wan has begun filming Aquaman on set in Queensland, Australia. Jason Momoa is starring as Aquaman, Amber Heard will star as the sensational character, Mera, and Willem Dafoe will play Nuidis Vulko. Wan wrote on his Twitter page: “Months of intensive prep have led to this. Here we go. #DayOne#Ahab.”
Nicole Kidman will also have a role in the new film as Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
“I think there’s a lot of directors doing cool things,” she told the Toronto Sun. “I know the storylines for a lot of the films they are working on and they are all vastly different, with very different tones and very different styles of storytelling. … Jason [Momoa] is off to shoot ‘Aquaman’ right now and that’s such a cool story. It’s got its own separate vibe. I’m excited to see each of these films.”
Aquaman is set for release on December 21 2018. The water based superhero made his DC Comics debut back in 1941. Momoa first appeared as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which was the first time our hero has been seen in a live action film.
