Hype intensifies.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he release date for Mass Effect: Andromeda is fast approaching, and our hype levels are increasing exponentially with each passing day.

The studio behind some of my favourite games out there (shout-out to Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition) has been feeding us tasty morsels of information about the game whilst we (not-so-patiently) wait it out for the release day. So far, BioWare has delivered us some insight into combat mechanics, weaponry, squad builds and skills over the past few days in their game-play series, and now we’re starting to get a look at some of the characters who will help shape up the story of Andromeda

At the core of any BioWare title, the characters we encounter form the heart and soul of the game. Andromeda promises to introduce us to a whole host of new characters, with everything from Turians (can I get a hurray for female Turians!), to Asari and Krogan, and we’ll be controlling a new protagonist in the shape of either one of the Ryder twins (be it male or female, depending on the player’s choice).

Enter Natalie Dormer. Known for her role as Margaret Tyrell in Game of Thrones (among many others), Dormer is portraying Dr Lexi T’Perro – an Asari doctor stationed aboard the Tempest scouting ship.

Natalie Dormer talked about lending her voice to T’Perro in the newly released character profile video BioWare posted just a few days ago. During the interview, Dormer offered some insight into her role by describing the type of character T’Perro is:

“She’s got some experience and wisdom under her belt, and in that way, she’s able to advise the player. She isn’t without emotion or compassion, so she sort of tries to walk the line of just the professional doctor, but sometimes she tips over it.”

What really gets us excited is Dormer’s mention of the production value of the game, which she describes as “extraordinary”, with everyone involved being at “the top of their game”. So. Much. Hype.

T’Perro already promises to offer up some interesting interactions for the player, and we can’t wait to meet the rest of the characters this March.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set for release March 21, 2017 (NA), and March 23, 2017 (EU).
