The Duffer brothers hope to leave the show on a high with four or five seasons.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]e couldn’t be more excited about the second upcoming season of Stranger Things. The supernatural sci-fi series was definitely one of the best things to hit our screens last year, and this Halloween we’ll be reunited with Eleven and the gang for more Eggos and upside down world shenanigans.
But what about after season two? Given the show’s success it’s always been highly likely that it won’t stop there, so how many more seasons can we expect?
Well, show creators Matt and Ross Duffer have an answer for us. Speaking with EW, the pair revealed their plans to see Stranger Things through to a fourth or fifth season. The Duffer brothers explained that they don’t want people to lose interest in the show by dragging it on for too long.
Matt Duffer expressed his hopes to finish the show on a high and bring it to a “finite” end:
“I want it to have a really finite ending. I don’t want it to be one of those shows that runs out of gas and they lose it because they’re losing interest. You wanna end when you’re on top.”
Ross Duffer then went on to explain that the second season will leave us feeling “fully satisfied”, but will also build up a solid foundation for further seasons:
“Hopefully you’ll come to the end of season 2 and feel fully satisfied and want more but you’ll feel like it has come to a conclusion. But also we’ve laid the ground work for further seasons.”
So there you have it. Stranger Things will be sticking around for a further two or three seasons after season two airs this year.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m just going to re-watch the latest Stranger Things trailer for the hundredth time and cry about the fact that it’s not Halloween yet.
The second season of Stranger Things is set to be released on Netflix this Halloween.
