Mastodon! Pterodactyl! Triceratops! Saber-toothed Tiger! Tyrannosaurus! Hot Grey Mess!
Megazord: The proud and powerful battle machine created when the Power Rangers combine their Dinozords together to combat the forces of evil.
It was also an awesome toy!
That’s right, back at the peak of Ranger Mania in the early 90’s, the Megazord was the toy every kid wanted for Christmas.
.We now have our first glimpse of what the Megazord will look like in the upcoming Power Rangers reboot film, and I don’t think the toy version will be flying off shelves like it did 20 years ago. The official Power Rangers Instagram account recently shared a photo of the “Interactive Megazord,” a toy version of presumably the Megazord that will be featured in the film. .
.The toy features “expandable wings, battle sounds, dynamic LED effects,” and comes with 2″ action figures of each Ranger.
This thing is gross. It looks like an half -baked sexy-angel Transformer. Nothing about this toy looks right, especially its weird stumpy feet and dull grey color scheme.
What’s so great about the original Megazord is that it looks like the culmination of the actual Dinozord vehicles, complete with bright colors and a blocky-square aesthetic. This Megazord is sleek and boring. Plus, how exciting is it knowing that when the Zords in the film (seen on these posters) combine, they turn into this hunky trash heap?
Sigh. I miss the original Megazord. And Furbies.
Power Rangers mighty morphs into theaters on March 24, 2017.
