Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS will be releasing this October, and the Wii U version hopefully soon after. This morning, Nintendo held a live-streamed event to introduce some new fighters, and one of them was long-awaited. The roster grows with three new fighters: Lucina, Captain Falcon, and Robin, respectively. In the trailer below, you’ll witness the Captain return in all his spandex, knee-of-justice glory. The other two rookie fighters, both Fire Emblem characters, make their debut against the seasoned veteran. Robin looks like he’s perusing through a cookbook when he’s fighting. Chrom, Lucina’s father, doesn’t appear to be a playable character but will manifest during Robin’s Final Smash. Bad-ass.
“Just a pinch of ground cumin? I’d better throw in a little extra for more flavor.”
I can’t help but feel like Robin has a Ness kind of vibe to him. Will this mean that we won’t be seeing our little slugger again? Lastly, Robin will also be getting a female alternate costume, a nice addition to his (or her) reveal.
Honorary Mention: Rayman will be appearing as a third party trophy. It’s nice to see that Nintendo stepped up its third-party game this time around. I, personally, don’t think we’ll be seeing Rayman as a playable character, but one can dream. With these three fighters joining the fray, how many more can we expect to see? The roster seems to be filling up pretty quickly.
