Sadly the original rangers won’t be passing on the torch to the new rangers, at least on screen.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n a podcast with Audibly Exquisite original Black Ranger actor Walter Jones discussed the possibility of the original Mighty Morphin cast making an appearance in the film. Unfortunately, it appears that we won’t be seeing the complete original cast or even one ranger for that matter when the film is released next year.
“It’s not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.”
It seems unfair, even rude, that Lionsgate hasn’t made any attempts to include the original Mighty Morphin cast in the film. The very least the studio could have done is give the original cast an appearance that was similar to Stan Lee’s appearances in any modern Marvel film. Fortunately, Walter Jones has taken the high road and instead of calling out Lionsgate for their poor decision he is doing what he can to continue to interact with the fans and promote the film.
Power Rangers hits theaters March 24th, 2017.
