In addition to Jack Black, Kevin Hart has also joined the cast of Jumanji.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n a recent Instagram post, retired wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gave an update on the Jumanji remake that he is co-producing. The film will include, in Dwayne’s own words, “One bad ass girl. One semi-sorta bad ass dude. Who will they be… this is gonna be fun.”
“IT’S OFFICIAL: An ol’ friend is ready to play in the world of #Jumaji… JACK (mf’n) BLACK. Been a big fan of his work over the years. A brilliant actor who I’m confident will turn in a performance of a lifetime for JUMANJI. (when we reveal his character you’ll understand;). In our reimagining of the story of JUMANJI, Jack brings that rare balance of cool with funny and edge with childlike joy. The “Jumanji Breakfast Club” is coming together.. myself, Jack (mf’n) Black and Kevin Hart.”
The original Jumanji film starred Robin Williams and was based on Chris Van Allsburg’s children book that had the same name. The original film followed two siblings who discover a board game that comes to life, releasing the jungle itself, a previously trapped player (Robin Williams) and other wild animals. As the story progresses, chaos escalates as the two siblings struggle to survive and succeed in winning while figuring out the mystery surrounding the previously trapped player.
Although yet to be confirmed, rumors are pointing towards a summer release in 2017 for the Jumanji remake.
