What a wonderful casting choice. (laugh track)Â
The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 just got even more awesome, as Nathan Fillion seemingly joins the project as Simon Williams, aka, Wonder Man.Â
During filming in Atlanta, spectators snapped photos of what is unmistakably Fillion in a number of fake movie posters outside of a venue titled the “Simon Williams Film Festival.” Most notable of these posters is a Steve Jobs-type parody titled Tony Stark.Â
In the comics, Simon Williams is an industrialist competitor to Stark. Eventually, Williams gains super strength and durability, and joins the Avengers. At one point though, Williams develops a fear of death, and decides to become an Hollywood actor rather than a hero.Â
Captain Malcolm Reynolds himself, Nate Fillion, is of course best known for his role in Firefly. The actor has also appeared in nearly every film by Guardians Vol. 2 director James Gunn, including a very brief cameo as a inmate of The Kyln prison in the first Guardians film.Â
Honestly, we won’t be surprised if these posters are the extent of his role in the film, meaning Fillion is just a cameo again, but what’s really interesting here is the implications of Wonder Man’s “appearance.”
The Simon Williams Film Festival scene appears to be taking place on earth, so big question is, does this mean Star-Lord is heading home?Â
Screen Crush has speculated that this scene may be a dream sequence or flashback to when Peter Quill was a child, but a video of the film’s set reveals the scene also features what will probably be a crashing alien ship.Â
This was cool, with or without stars…can't wait to see our little town in Guardians 2!

With all this in mind, it’s really starting too look like a certain bunch of A-holes may be meeting the Avengers sooner than later.Â
Anyway, Fillion’s role, as well as the scene surrounding it, has yet to be officially confirmed so take this all with a grain of salt.Â
The film will see the return of Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula), as well as newcomers Kurt Russel and Pom Klementieff.Â
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2Â hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
