This is assuming that this movie franchise won’t be sunk like Fant4astic did and that a third movie will be in the works after 10 Cloverfield Lane!
[dropcap size=small]S[/dropcap]ince Cloverfield was released in 2008, many fans were expecting a sequel for the movie. Up until the trailer release in January, no one had any idea that a sequel was even in the works.
The trailer above has fans asking if this is even a sequel or a completely different plot. But producer J.J. Abrams referred to 10 Cloverfield Lane as a “blood relative” to the first movie. Some thought that the only connection between the two movies was the tone with some sci-fi add ins. During a 10 Cloverfield Lane press day, Abrams was asked about how the two are categorized and he hesitated before answering.
“I think that would be presumptuous, because we’re talking about this movie and comparing it to Cloverfield, but I would be lying if I didn’t say there was something else that, if we’re lucky enough to do it, could be really cool that connects some stories.”
We won’t know if there is a connection between the two movies until 10 Cloverfield Lane’s release on March 11. Abrams only hint was that there is a “larger conceit” at play here.
“This is just this movie, and it’s only two films that we’re talking about right now,” Abrams said. “There is something else that we’d like to do, and hopefully we’ll get a shot.”
10 Cloverfield Lane is only a few weeks away from it’s release to theaters on March 11!
