After 10 long years, the third installment in the Mother series may finally be available outside of Japan.
[dropcap size=small]F[/dropcap]ans of the 1994 game Earthbound, also known as Mother 2 in Japan, have been waiting for almost a decade for the Western release of the sequel to the game, Mother 3.
Well my friends, your wait may be over.
According to multiple reports suggesting it may be released internationally by Nintendo later this year.
Word of this broke on Reddit and Twitter, and now Eurogamer also reporting the story. According to the report, Mother 3 will release on the Wii U’s Virtual Console to celebrate the game’s 10-year anniversary in Japan. It is unknown yet whether or not this release will happen in North America or Europe.
Fans are hopefully due to last year’s Western release Mother, which was called Earthbound Beginnings on the Wii U’s Virtual Console. This was the first time the game was released outside of Japan so many are hoping the trend will continue.
Although only one of the games in the series has been released outside of the Japan, the game and characters have seen lots of Western exposure through the Super Smash Bros. franchise.
