A certain pig and rhino make their way into the live-action sequel.
The first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows has arrived.
Check it out below.
Is it just us, or does the trailer make this movie look like a ton of fun?
After the rather disappointing and “gritty” 2014 reboot, this sequel seems to be taking a much lighter tone, as well as delivering a big scoop of fan service.
Besides the Turtle Van, Foot Soldiers that are actually ninjas, Casey Jones (played by Arrow himself, Stephen Amell), a Shredder that looks like Shredder, and hints of Krang, the highlight of this trailer has to be long-awaited debut of live-action versions of Bebop and Rocksteady.
As shown in the trailer, these characters will first appear in human form, and then will be mutated into their rhino and pig forms.
Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady’s (WWE wrestler Sheamus) human appearances were actually first teased in character posters released prior to the release of the trailer.
While they may be big, muscular, CG creations in the trailer, these characters look pretty great, and faithful to the coveted 1987 animated series source material.
TMNT: Out of the Shadows will be directed by Dave Green, and stars Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), Megan Fox (April O’Neil), Will Arnett (Vern Fenwick), and Tyler Perry (Baxter Stockman).
Can this fun-looking sequel redeem the first film? We’ll have to wait and see.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hits theaters on June 3, 2016.
